Congrats on the success so far Dave.

You should start to consider varying the images you submit. The AFIAP is just 10 images but the EFIAP is 50! In reality the additonal acceptances you’re picking up now, won’t count.

By and large, once I got an acceptance with an image, I retired it and moved on to the next. You can see from my EFIAP gallery, the majority of images only have 1 acceptance. Most of the ones with multiple acceptances were ones that were picked up in circuits.

One “mistake” that can be made, is not being strategic in what you enter and where. Target as many countries as early as you can with as many images as you can.

OK, I’m glad the sale fell through, as I’ve now got a D-Lock CF adapter, and the Eye-Fi card now works in my Canon 5D Mark II.

Nope. I don’t believe there is one. I’ve sold my Eye-Fi, and will probably go for the WFT-E4.

Great article, very nice read.

Only a 25% CPU load sounds very good. But I will wait a bit before jumping on the beyond 1GB bandwagon. Wait until we see a bit more about Intel’s new Thunderbolt. This should be a bit more future proof, and cheaper, compared to infiniband, hopefully.

Your throughput problems are most likely due to CIFS/Samba, which is horribly latency sensitive, and Windows has a high latency turnaround. You’d need to run SMB2 from a Vista client to Samba (assuming it supports SMB2 these days) . Or, alternatively, use an NFS stack on Windows.
